Urgent Security Alert: Critical Vulnerability in Note-Mark OIDC Authentication
Today, a critical security vulnerability (CVE-2026-41571) has been discovered in the Note-Mark backend, potentially allowing attackers to gain unauthorized access to user accounts. Immediate action is required to secure your systems.
Critical Vulnerabilities
CVE-2026-41571: OIDC Authentication Bypass
- Impact: Attackers can log in as any OIDC-registered user by exploiting a password fallback flaw, potentially locking out legitimate users and accessing private data.
- Affected Systems: Note-Mark v0.19.2 with default settings, particularly those using OIDC.
- Immediate Action: Disable internal login immediately in your deployment configurations if OIDC is enabled.
- Mitigation: Apply a patch that prevents login attempts with empty passwords or use a per-user unguessable placeholder.
What to Do Now
- Immediately disable internal login by setting
ENABLE_INTERNAL_LOGIN=falsein your configuration. - Apply the recommended patch to ensure empty passwords are rejected at login attempts.
- Monitor access logs for signs of unauthorized login attempts using the "null" password.
